Monday's Music Notes and Weekend Review ~ September 30, 2013

I have been struggling lately with many things one being balance of work and family (the usual in photog world) and the other relearning how to be myself again. Sounds silly maybe but true, for me at least.  It's easy for some to plan a family and slide right into the role of being a mother and some are perfectly content which is great for those people, it just wasn't me. I had a hard time adjusting and I am not going to pretend that I didn't. Don't get me wrong, being a mother is the greatest thing that ever happened to me...... I am simply saying that for years and years before children and my photography business, it was different, I was different, which everyone changes yes .....  I think it is so important for women to embrace whatever role that they have manifested into, be actively and emotionally involved in whatever your passion may be.

Here comes the BUTTTTTTT....... (I like it with multiple TTTs)

Do not loose who you are in the midst of who you think you should be. I told myself once or twice that no matter what circumstances may arise that I would always be true to myself. Granted when you have a family, other things start to come first. However, there should be some sort of way for us to be able to extend the part of ourselves that made us who we are and positively promote that love beyond the roles of daily life.  We should not be afraid to find something that makes us happy beyond being  mothers, wives and careers.

Hopefully this is not just some endless ramble and  will make sense to someone .... lol.

This brings me to my ultimate goal of this post and that is to share with you, the new hot jams on my editing playlist.... they may not be your style, they may not be your taste, you may hate them all..... or you might find something that you love. I have found that it makes me super happy to listen to music pretty much the entire time I am at my computer..... which is like usual 8+ hours a day. (yeah crazy lol)

You can find all of these on Spotify or wherever you listen to your tunes!

One of my good friends posted this today.... and I wanted to share. Thanks T!

And now for a quick weekend review of my favorite photos.......

I was so lucky to see this family on Friday evening. I heart these girls! (and their parents too)

Then Saturday I ventured over to Washington, VA and got to be a part of this special day......

Congratulations Stephanie and James!!!

THEN...... I was up in Herndon, VA getting my baby snuggles in with this little sweetheart....

Then I was out in Middleburg with a former US Olympian Horseback rider, which was a special project and has yet to be unveiled.

It was a crazy weekend nonetheless!

If you have any music that makes for a good share.... please send it my way!

I hope you all had a super duper weekend!!

Much Love,

Jaime

Amazing Wedding at the Apple Blossom Plantation ~ September 1, 2013 ~ Virginia Wedding Photographer

This wedding was very very near and dear to my heart. Ashleigh and I have known each other since back in THE day, lol, and we were pretty much inseparable for years and years. We played guitar and sang together in various bands and an acoustic duo that we so creatively called "Far From Virginia." When are dreams of being rockstars started to fizzle  and the weight of the world grew heavy on our shoulders, it was time for us to find our niche in this crazy world.

That we did. As we reconnected after some years, it was like time just picked up where we left off. We both still had the same sense of humor and the laughter immediately filled the Apple Blossom Plantation. You could feel the vibe of the wedding from the moment you pulled into the gravel driveway up to the plantation. Fun, love and happiness. My husband joined me at this wedding, Ashleigh and Will had a room reserved for us so we could hang with them and of course get down a little on the dance floor..... and enjoy a few adult beverages. I could probably write a book about how much I loved this wedding, how great it was to meet Will, how grateful I am that Ashleigh is back in my life and how much I love her!

As you can see from the photos below, love radiates from these two. It is a such a blessing to not only find your soul mate but to marry that person surrounded by your family and loved ones. I am so so so happy for Ashleigh and Will, it was such a great weekend. Love you all!!!

xoxox,

Jaime

Romantic and Fun Engagement Shoot ~ Harrisonburg Virginia Photographer ~August 2013

When Andrea contacted me to photograph an engagement session for her and her fiance Justin, I was stoked! I rarely get to photograph subjects that actually listen to directions and follow. lol. Not complaining but sometimes it is refreshing to get a little change up and have various subjects. But I always get super nervous before photographing adults, its so much different then photographing kids. I  ball that anxiety up and put that energy into photographing.

I was also excited that their 14 (now 15 month) old little boy would be joining in the fun. I just realized that he turned 15 months old last week (per Facebook lol!) and that means little C and I share the same birthday!! And he is in for a treat because May 30 is THE best birthday EVER!! It always falls around Memorial Day weekend which means there is always something fun to do  and its the unofficial beginning of SUMMER!!! So he has now entered the ranks of one of my favorite little guys!

Andrea and Justin are big football fans and they wanted to incorporate some football themed shots into their session. Which I was excited about since I too love football. We spent the evening at 2 locations here in Harrisonburg, one being my go to.... Hillandale Park (until we got photobombed by another photographer and 12 soccer players) and the other was a spot that most would overlook..... but I had been eying the light there for some time and I knew this would be the perfect session to try it out. So I hope you enjoy the photos. I really enjoyed hanging out with this awesome family!
