Miss Yardley turns 1 ~ Winchester Virginia Family Photographer ~ July 2012

So I am trying my hardest to keep up with all my blog posts. However, as with all new endeavors it takes time to form a routine. So...... Miss Yardley has more personality in her little toe then most have in their whole being by the time they are 22. She is simply adorable (as you can tell below:)!! I visited Yardley with her mommy and Nana, and had the best time taking her pictures. We cruised around in her Nana's super awesome convertible and laughed at all of Yardley's cute faces and antics. It was a success and Yardley is 1!! Her Nana is my  Godmother (I refer to her as my fairy Godmother lol)  and I have known her family since I was born, needless to say I was so ecstatic when they called me to do Yardley's one year photos. Here is a few from our session!

Field Trip ~ July 13, 2012 ~ Downtown Harrisonburg

So I do things with my girls pretty often. I love doing all kinds of different activities, finding new fun things to do, and sometimes I like just doing random things. Anyhow, today we went down to the Explore More Discovery Museum.....we are members so we tend to pop in there a lot. But today I was going to let the girls do all the things that we don't normally do! Soooooo.....Madelynn got to crawl around in the big kid area, she is totally independent but refuses to walk so I just let her crawl. She will walk when she wants..... is my take on it. Eventually she will want to give her knees a break. Adelaide got to run around and paint her face. They had a blast. Which in the end is all that matters....that and tiring them out so that they nap long enough and I can work a teeny bit or blog.... :).

We also stopped by to see the kitties at Cat's Cradle as well. This is pretty much standard procedure upon leaving the museum. Adelaide loves the kitties. Usually we just look at them through the windows, but today there was a SUPER nice lady and her sons volunteering and welcomed us with such kindness it was awesome. The girls of course were ecstatic, they got to pet and hold the kitties....and I got to photograph some of the awesome decor they have in the place for the cats. The luggage bed is seriously toooooo cute!! I totally want to make one of these for a newborn shoot. Anyhow here are some more photos of our most awesome day.

Isn't this the cutest cat bed!?!?! I want it!!!

Loving life at 90 ~ Rockville Maryland Family Photographer

I love my business and photography for many reasons, one in particular is seeing life in different stages. For instance, photographing a newborn baby one day and the following day photographing a wise, vibrant, beautiful 90 year old woman. For me....it doesn't get much better.

I love newborn babies and families adoring them and loving them. But it is such amazing love to watch a family together adoring their Grandmother as she turns 90. I mean how many things has she experienced and seen in her lifetime?!?! So let's take a look....when Grandma was born (1922) our country was on our way in to the Great Depression, she was also born in the midst of the US Prohibition, jumping ahead several years... then of course segregation, the Vietnam War, the introduction of technology and computers, the digital age....I mean this is what a camera looked like in 1922.......(Vintage 1920 Camera)!!

Anyhow, there is a saying "Age ain't nothin but a number" ....but I think that it is WAY more then a number, and in fact that number is so significant. There are so many things that go along with age, and it may seem a little old school but respecting your elders is one thing that I will not let my children forget. Wisdom is not built overnight, it is not something that we are all born with, wisdom is something that comes with growing older, something that we all should respect and honor.

I was able to be apart of this 90th birthday celebration because the guest of honor's granddaughter and I went to high school together. When I saw Nicole it was one of those times where you just see clips of your life buzzing by your head and for a split second I think I may have time warped back to high school. I remember her beboppin around in her cheerleading uniform with this awesome smile (that she of course still has) she has not changed much except for the 3 little minions running around her constantly. And they are SUPER cute!! She also sews, she makes little shirts and bows. You can check out her Facebook page here (Sew Stinkin Cute). Anyhow, it was a great day and I was so happy to be apart of such a special occasion.

I hope you all had a wonderful time and I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I loved taking them!!

Ava 6 Months ~ Broadway Virginia Baby Photographer

I met little Miss Ava for the first time, the day after Christmas. She was a perfect little beauty and needless to say things have only gotten cuter since then. Ava is now 6 months old and she is sitting up all on her own. Her smile is simply gorgeous and her beautiful eyes are a photographer's dream.

I did Ava's 6 month photos the day after an insane storm here in Virginia, with winds gusting up to 75 mph. As I drove out to Broadway that morning it was pretty wild how many trees were down. Power lines were destroyed and of course I soon had no cell service. 2 of the 3 gas stations in downtown Broadway were without working gas pumps, so I had to wait in line in order to get a few gallons of gas in my car.

Despite all the craziness I made it the park and we carried on with Ava's 6 month photos, finishing up just before the sun really started baking. Temperatures reached the 100s that day and I couldn't help but think of all the people that were without power, which meant no A/C. Thank goodness we did Ava's session early, here are few photos from our session at Heritage Park in Broadway.

Erika & Kyle ~ June 16, 2012 ~ Waynesboro Virginia Wedding Photographer

I have been talking with Erika's mom Julie for sometime about her daughters nuptials. It's always crazy when dates seem so far in the future at one point and then they just creep up on you! Anyhow, I had met with Erika and her mom a few months back to talk about the wedding and go over details. I feel like wedding days are sort of like Christmas morning, you anxiously await the day, buying things, preparing, wrapping presents, making sure that everything is perfect and then it just flies by and soon its over. It seems like eternity for the day to arrive and then with a blink of an eye it is gone. Luckily we have photos to cherish those precious moments in our lives. I wish you the best Erika and Kyle! I hope you enjoyed your beautiful wedding day! Here a just a few photos of Erika and Kyle's wedding day at Wayne Hill Baptist Church, in Waynesboro.
